Dearborn County, Prosecutor Lynn Deddens

According to Dearborn County, Prosecutor Lynn Deddens on Thursday night August 30th, 2019 while at a home on Kirby Street the man who threatened officers with a gun was shocked with a Taser and then arrested.

Deddens added authorities were called to the home after receiving reports that a man, who was later identified as 30-year-old Corey Brown, had a gun and was threatening to kill family members inside of the home.

Subsequently, a family was able to escape and fled to a neighbor’s home and eventually called 911.

Deddens continued to say, as officers arrived on the scene, they found Brown armed with a gun. He approached the responding officer whom is identified as Chief Deputy Max Sox, of the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office. With understanding, he was holding his pistol in his hand.

Investigators said Brown in his lamentation told Chief Deputy Sox he wanted to die. He continued crying out to the deputies to shoot him. However, according to officers when authorities did not fire, Brown then ran back into the home. Seemingly, Brown was faced with enormous mental anguish.

Nonetheless, authorities added at some point Brown fled into the woods behind his home.

Accordingly Deddens had this to say; multiple officers chased after him, eventually they came upon Brown and found him “lying on his back holding and pointing a pistol toward the officers.”

Deddens said, “when he refused to comply with officers’ demands, Sheriff’s Office deputies shocked him with a Taser and took him into custody.”

It is believed that Brown has a history of mental illness. Moreover, Deddens said, investigators found several firearms, ammunition and handwritten notes inside of his house. It is not clear as to what was written in those handwritten notes found inside of his house

According to court records Brown is facing several charges, including intimidation, criminal recklessness and battery.

Subsequently, the battery charge resulted from Brown’s allegedly striking his sister prior to the authorities arriving.

Thusly, 30-year-old Corey Brown is scheduled in court on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2019.
