Another 14 Year-Old Shot and Killed

Written By: Ishton W. Morton – July 7th, 2019

The victim, is 14-year-old Cameron Franklin

Truly we have become the community that has lost is way. We are a community with a value system. At times I have wondered what happened to the ecclesiastical principles demonstrated in the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible Proverbs 22:6  that admonished to, “Train up a child in the way he, she should go: and when he, she becomes old, he, she  will not depart from the path thereof.”

Seemingly, for the past several months, every week, every day I’ve received news bites from WLWT TV 5 News that is quite similar to this one. And I quote  “Police have identified a 14-year-old shot and killed overnight Sunday in Lower Price Hill, Cincinnati, Ohio.”

These news bites have continued to echo the same message. Such as police said, the shooting took place around midnight on 2150 Storrs Street. Sadly, this time the victim, is 14-year-old Cameron Franklin, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ironically, this shooting comes practically one month after another deadly shooting on the same corner. No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.

Although no arrests have been made as yet some other person or persons shall be arrested. The Black Woman have a love affair with their sons. They raised their daughters and love their sons to death. Most of them are allowed to run free.  Neither early death or the penitentiary should be the ultimate destination for our children especially our sons.

The problem with these crimes are there are the victims and perpetrators of these crimes. As a general rule the perpetrators more than likely faces death to life in prison. The question of what good is he to society? These perpetrators too are as good as being dead.

Also, in reference to the presupposition as presented Proverbs 22:6, the parent’s needs to be held accountable for their children actions. Parents are not raising their children properly. They are lacking a solid and sound value-system. Some needs to explain to me; why and how a 14 year-old should be out on the street between 12:00 and  1:00 in the morning? Or, tell me why I would be in my bed sleeping between 12:00 and  1:00 in the morning and my child is out on the street? Something is enormously wrong with that picture.

There are those whom have argued that one cannot be with their children all the time. And, this is correct. However, parents needs to instill in their children such a value-system that would continue to guide that child or children when the parents are not around.

Our children are a special human species in part because they learn by imitation. Like us adults, they are programmed to copy other’s actions to understand them and to incorporate them into our own. Children in particular watch everything their parents do very carefully.

Apparently, too many of our parents have lost their moral or honorable compasses, and there can be no excuses or justifications for these actions.

It is not the police, or the schools or politicians or 241-kids responsibilities to raised your child or children. It’s about time that parents quit being apathetic, indifferent indolent and lazy and accept the responsibilities of raising and caring for their children.

Meanwhile, it is strongly urged, anyone with information please call Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040.
